Weave a Parkland Throw - Winter Retreat
Weave a Parkland Throw - Winter Retreat
December 28, 29, and 30 (10 am to 3 pm)
For those that have some extra time between Christmas and the New Year, we are offering a special 3 day workshop on weaving a wool throw. No experience is necessary!
We will begin with an introduction to the benefits of using wool and what makes Parkland wool so very special.
From there we will touch on design and colour choices that can be used to personalize your throw.
The remainder of the workshop will focus on weaving and using a floor loom. Looms will be dressed with our beautiful Parkland wool and ready to be woven . Once the throw is finished, errors will be fixed, edges will be secured and wet finishing will be done.
This class is limited to 4 students allowing more one on one time with the instructor.
Instructor
With over 20 years of experience in the art of weaving, Shannon Nelson is a skilled artisan and entrepreneur based in Alberta, Canada. Holding a Master's in Weaving from Olds College, Shannon's pioneering work explored the feasibility of creating high-quality weaving yarns from locally sourced and processed wool.
Inclusion and Adaptations
At Traceable Textiles, our goal is to make fibre arts accessible and enjoyable for everybody. As most of our classes involve detailed verbal instructions and the use of the student’s hands and feet, please contact us if you may need adaptations to conventional methods. This forewarning allows the instructor time to prepare any techniques or tools that will help you succeed in the class.

All workshop and studio drop in registrations are non-refundable. Each event requires significant time and preparation, including pre-arranged materials to ensure the best possible experience for participants.
Workshop and Drop in spots are transferable. If you have any questions, please contact us directly.
In the event of a cancellation due to low enrolment or unforeseen restrictions, we will provide alternative options for registered participants.
Only students are allowed in the studio during classes.
This policy allows us to continue offering high-quality workshops and bringing in skilled instructors. We appreciate your understanding and support!
