Book Signing by Michelle Boyd
Sunday, September 13th (1:30pm to 4pm)
Renowned author Michelle Boyd will be coming to Edmonton on Sunday, September 13th for a book signing! Her new book, A User's Guide to Yarn, is a must have for any artist that uses yarn. Inspired by conversations with crafters about projects gone terribly wrong, Michelle wrote this book that helps crafters understand the yarn that they are looking for and working with; and allows you to upgrade your craft.
You will be able to purchase a copy of A User's Guide to Yarn, or bring in your copies of her two books to have signed. Feel free to bring your current fibre art project and join us for the afternoon!
Signing up via the button below is not necessary but appreciated to help us plan.
Michelle Boyd is an internationally recognized fibres arts writer and educator. Michelle fell in love with yarn when she picked up her first skein of acrylic yarn and a crochet hook when she was 12 years old and, while that project didn’t turn our that well, the love continues to this day. That crochet project led to knitting, knitting led to spinning, which totally captivated her and cemented that love for yarn. She received her Master Spinner certification from Olds College in 2007 and became an instructor for the Master Spinner Program that same year. Becoming a Master Spinner only made her more curious about yarn and she has been studying the art and science involved in making yarn, both by hand and by machine, ever since. Always eager to share what she had learned, she has taught spinning at fibre festivals and guilds across North America and has written articles for PLY Magazine and Spin-Off. Her book about spinning yarn by hand, Twist, was published by PLY Publishing in 2024 and her latest book is A User’s Guide to Yarn, published by Nine Ten Publications.. Michelle currently lives in Olds, Alberta, Canada with her partner and their two terribly spoiled black cats.
